the Mountain. "An Geabhall Mór" Sugarloaf
This 12.5km hike takes you on a (literally) breathtaking journey to the top of Glengarriff’s iconic Sugarloaf mountain.
We start on the historic Beara Way trail, before striking off through folded sandstone corridors, past ancient lakes and wild peatland to reach the summit of Glengarriff’s iconic mountain.
An elevation gain of 730m rewards us with sweeping panoramas of Bantry Bay, Glengarriff Harbour, the Sheep’s Head, Mizen Head, the McGillycuddy Reeks (home to Ireland’s highest peak) Cnoc Buí (Cork’s highest peak) as well as the iconic Fastnet Lighthouse, Hungry Hill, Garnish, Whiddy & Bere island and much more.
